Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party enter places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
